Camping in the Riverland

We've just had a fantastic weekend camping in the Riverland, along the Murray River. We explored quite a bit of the area including Blanchetown, Waikerie, Kingston-On-Murray, Barmera, Berri, Renmark, Monash, Cobdogla, Loxton, etc. We didn't have very good maps with us so it's been fun trying to work out where we were on Google Maps after we got home. We ended up camping in Loch Luna Game Reserve, which is between Cobdogla and Kingston-On-Murray. It was a great spot, with lots of birdlife and frogs croaking through the night. Only downside was that it was hot and we hadn't organized bug screens for the van yet so in order to have the windows open to keep cool, we had to spray ourselves with bug spray to keep the flies and mozzies away. It actually worked quite well because not one fly came in and I didn't have a single mosquito bite (impressive because they love me). But then we woke up to a huge swarm of bees surrounding the van. Apparently there were plants there with pollen they wanted because there must have been hundreds of bees. The buzzing sound was quite disturbing so we didn't stay long in the morning but it was a great secluded spot. We even saw some kangaroos both on the way in and on the way out of the reserve.
