All better

Phil got his stitches out on Wednesday and he's healed up nicely. Now we're just waiting for his fur to grow back.

Poor Phil

A few days ago we heard Phil in a fight with another cat in the neighbour's backyard. We went out to break it up and he came jumping over the fence with a terrified look on his face. A day or so after that we felt a big bump on his right side with what felt like a scab down the middle. We decided to keep an eye on it, thinking it might heal on its own.

This morning we saw that he had either pulled his hair out around the wound or it had fallen out and it looked awful so we took him to the vet. She pulled out a clump of hair to reveal a big hole in his side. She said it didn't look like anything she had seen so we're not really sure how he got it exactly.

He had to get 5 stitches, poor guy. Now I'm just hoping he doesn't try to pull the stitches out before it heals.

application

My application for permanent residency in Australia has arrived! I've been a temporary resident for the past 2 years so the time has come. There's heaps of paperwork: federal police check, statutory declarations from Darren and from me, statutory declarations from at least 2 Australian citizens or permanent residents, pictures of us together, and lots and lots of certified copies of things with our name and address printed on them. It'll sure be a relief once it's all finished. My due date to turn everything in is the 2nd of October. We went and got a bunch of stuff stamped and signed by a Justice of the Peace yesterday so there's not much left to do before I can turn it all in. I'm not sure if we'll have to go in to the Department of Immigration for an interview again or not. I guess we'll soon find out...
